Climbing
When and how did you get into climbing and what kept you interested / fascinated in the sport?
I got into climbing through my friends in Innsbruck. In the beginning I especially enjoyed the social side of bouldering thinking together and solving the boulder problem.
Who was your childhood hero and do you consider yourself a role model now? Does it influence you at all that other people look up to you?
I don’t really see myself as a role model, but I’m happy if I can inspire others with a visual impairment to try what they want and not let their disability or other people’s expectations hold them back.
What were the most important milestones in your life so far, both in climbing and in everyday life? Did you immediately recognize them as such or only later on?
My first Paraclimbing World Cup final in Arco 2024 was a real milestone — that’s when I knew right away that I would quit skiing and put everything into climbing. I felt it in that very moment, and especially on the journey back home. In my private life, moving to Innsbruck and completing my bachelor’s degree were also important milestones.
What were your greatest failures / setbacks / injuries? How did you cope with them and how did you come back from them?
Not making it to the 2022 Paralympic Games in skiing by a small margin was tough for me. But during that time I was grateful to focus on other meaningful parts of life — friends, other sports, my studies. That experience shaped my perspective and is a big reason why I’ll always value leading a happy, fulfilled life over chasing success alone
