Fair working conditions

We are aware of the responsibility we bear towards our employees and the people involved in the production of our climbing and bouldering shoes around the world. Our international manufacturing processes and supply chains are very complex. We therefore strive to better understand our global impact as a company and are committed to safe, fair, legal and humane working conditions.

Red Chili x Fair Wear Foundation

We think textiles should be fair - for each and every one of us. However, as we cannot produce all of our products at our headquarters in Isny, Allgäu, where we can monitor the working conditions of production, we have joined the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) and have been an official member since mid-2021.

This organization is a multi-stakeholder initiative. Under the name Fair Wear Foundation, various players such as government institutions, NGOs and companies work closely together - united by the goal of improving working conditions in global textile production.

The Fair Wear Code of Labour Practices, which is based on the conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is decisive here. The annual Brand Performance Check serves to review not only the production facilities themselves, but also the brands belonging to the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) and their purchasing behavior at the production facilities.

Together, organizations participating in the Fair Wear Foundation can achieve progress in terms of social compatibility and the transparency of their supply chains, learn from each other and join forces to improve working conditions at joint production sites.

The Fair Wear Foundation conducts an annual assessment to evaluate how companies ensure and improve working conditions in their production facilities. As part of the Brand Performance Check (BPC), existing action plans and management systems are reviewed based on the Code of Labour Practices and monitored in collaboration with production sites. The results are published transparently and made available to the public in the BPC Report.

For the last year’s reporting period from January 1 to December 31, 2024, EDELRID GmbH & Co. KG, which also includes the Red Chili brand, achieved a benchmarking score of 58. This reflects significant progress we made over the past year:
