Fair working conditions

We are aware of the responsibility we bear towards our employees and the people involved in the production of our climbing and bouldering shoes around the world. Our international manufacturing processes and supply chains are very complex. We therefore strive to better understand our global impact as a company and are committed to safe, fair, legal and humane working conditions.

Red Chili x Fair Wear Foundation

We think textiles should be fair - for each and every one of us. However, as we cannot produce all of our products at our headquarters in Isny, Allgäu, where we can monitor the working conditions of production, we have joined the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) and have been an official member since mid-2021.

This organization is a multi-stakeholder initiative. Under the name Fair Wear Foundation, various players such as government institutions, NGOs and companies work closely together - united by the goal of improving working conditions in global textile production.

The Fair Wear Code of Labour Practices, which is based on the conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is decisive here. The annual Brand Performance Check serves to review not only the production facilities themselves, but also the brands belonging to the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) and their purchasing behavior at the production facilities.

Together, organizations participating in the Fair Wear Foundation can achieve progress in terms of social compatibility and the transparency of their supply chains, learn from each other and join forces to improve working conditions at joint production sites.

It gives us great pleasure to receive a “GOOD” rating in the second Brand Performance Check by the Fair Wear Foundation. It is a positive feeling to receive confirmation from an independent institution that our efforts to promote responsible working conditions in our supply chain are on the right track and that the work on our weaknesses is proving effective. We were able to achieve notable improvements, particularly in risk assessment in accordance with the OECD guidelines, as well as in the follow-up and root cause analysis of complaints in supplier audits and the systematic development of our supplier monitoring. Nevertheless, we do not want to rest on our laurels. Instead, we will continue to focus on active action, continuous learning and authenticity in order to get closer to our goal of becoming a socially responsible company step by step. We look forward to putting our measures to the test again in the next Brand Performance Check 2025.
